Another country has now announced their singers for Belgrade and it is Turkey. TRT made the announcement at the beginning of the week. The group representing them at Eurovision in 2008 will be "mor ve otesi" an alternative rock band hailing from Istanbul who were formed in 1995. No song has been announced yet and TRT the national Broadcaster of Turkey have made it perfectly clear over recent months that they would like their next entry to be sung in Turkish, whether this will happen is not known as the group have said that the choice of language will be decided by them.
It will be interesting to see what the reaction will be to this genre of music in Eurovision.
Another British pop star has got in on the Eurovision act for 2008 with Duncan James formerly of the pop group "Blue" has co-written a song for Esther Sels which is called "Game Over". Don't be fooled though.....even with an English title the song will be the only one in the Belgian selection sung entirely in Dutch.
SORRY for not being as regular with updates on the blog over the past couple of months, unfortunately personal issues have overtaken both myself and Colin which has meant less time to deal with the blog and reply to any comments or information given. As of today both of us will now be making regular updates on the blog and would appreciate any comments or information that you have. Once Again Sorry Paul & Colin
So it's the beginning of February and the UK are all ready for Eurovision . For so many years we've had to wait until the last minute before finding out who was going to represent us. However, with the passing of Wogan's reign over the ridicule of Eurovision in the UK, we were told that it was now time to take it seriously again to bring the Eurovision back to the UK shores, rather than being the laughing stock of the rest of Europe. With UK fans having been told this numerous times before by the BBC, could we believe that this year was any different? Enter Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber , probably one of the best musical writers ever known (well, in my eyes anyway!) Maybe we were going to take it seriously this time. Stepping into Wogan's shoes, to take it seriously.... we choose a comedian!!?! To choose our entrant, 5 shows - 4 being live, with Andrew Lloyd Webber writing the song for the winner. Seriousness is thrown out of the window right from the start with so...
